A new year, a new decade and a new feature to this blog called Dim Sum Stories. Often in my work I come across interesting stories that I want to shed some insight or share with my readers, but then just don’t have to time to write a full blog post.

So I decided to introduce a weekly (or bi-weekly) roundup on stories of interest coming out of China. The focus is still on design and branding but also including trends and culture, which make the experience of living in China so unique.

These stories are picked up from international and local news organisations, branding and advertising sites as well as other social media blogs. Many of these topics run under the radar of big news station like the BBC and CNN, so it’s likely you wouldn’t of heard of them before.

I have called it Dim Sum, “Xiao Chi” in Mandarin, which translates into ‘small eats’. Eating Dim Sum is a very popular cuisine in China, referring to the small dishes of foods often served with tea. The style of food originated in Southern China, created by the Cantonese people, who have spread it across China and the world.

I hope you’ll find my Dim Sum selection appetising and appealing giving you a tasty little view of what is happening in China – where there is always something new to digest.
